Brief info

My name is Sheryar Abdullah. I currently reside in Calgary, Alberta. I moved to Canada back in January 2001 from Karachi, Pakistan. As I write my bio and tell you a little about myself, it feels surreal what this game has done for me over the last 20 years or so.

I have been involved in the game for over a decade and being around many experienced people who have helped me understand what this game is about. It's about people, it's about family. No, matter what your role is, if you work in this game, you have a responsibility to represent this game to the best of your ability. For the education side in sports I am a proud alumni of Sports Management Worldwide where I have studied Journalism/Broadcasting and Hockey Gm/Scouting program. SMWW was the reason I met our very own Michael Collier at the recent June NHL Draft conference in Nashville, Tennessee.

I am excited about this journey to work with young people who want to better themselves, not just as hockey players, athletes but people. What I bring to the table on this team is someone who has experience building relationships with youth and helping guide, empower and encourage them to push their limits with all the resources around them.

I have a background in scouting, video coaching, building reports and portfolio, and highlight packages for recruitment purposes. I have worked and been involved with U9 to U18, Junior B, AJHL, ACAC and like many great moments in hockey, my proudest moment was being able to experience NHL scouting staff to work and listen in on their thought process during the 2022 Hlinka Gretzky tournament evaluation process.

Outside of hockey, I work in property management as I work towards a career in real estate to learn a new skill. I am 33 years of age, so I make sure I take care of myself and stay active by going to the gym, playing golf, and paddle board during summer. I love to read and listen to podcasts to better myself everyday.

I am very much looking forward to this journey and working with people who want to build a quality life for themselves and their family, at the same time building long term relationships and bringing more unity in our game. See you at the rink!
